What is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is an evidence-based psychotherapy that uses a combination of acceptance, mindfulness strategies, commitment, and behavioral-change strategies to increase psychological flexibility. ACT aims to help individuals live a life that is more in line with their own values and utilize mindfulness and acceptance skills when faced with experiences that are out of their control. In doing so, ACT helps you build skills to be able to live with unpleasant thoughts and feelings without actively trying to avoid them or become controlled by them.
